Global Leaders to Converge in Lagos for Landmark Event Driving Urban Innovation and Investment
Lagos, Nigeria’s economic powerhouse, will host the 75th FIABCI World Congress from June 9–13, 2025, marking the first time the International Real Estate Federation’s flagship event is held in Africa. Announced at a press briefing in Lagos’ Metropolitan Club, the congress will unite global real estate titans, policymakers, and investors to explore sustainable development, infrastructure financing, and Africa’s rising influence in shaping global urban landscapes.
FIABCI Africa & Near East President Adele Adeniji emphasized Lagos’ strategic role as a nexus of innovation and economic dynamism. “This isn’t just a conference it’s a recognition of Africa’s transformative strides in real estate and urban development,” she stated. The city, renowned for its rapid growth and entrepreneurial spirit, will welcome delegates to the Eko Hotel Banquet Hall for five days of high-level dialogue, networking, and deal-making.
The congress will showcase Africa’s advancements in sustainable architecture, smart cities, and public-private partnerships. Over 200 global attendees including U.S. FIABCI President Kevin Brown, Lagos Tourism Commissioner Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and Saudi Arabia and Uganda delegations will dissect trends like infrastructure financing and tech-driven urban planning. “Africa is no longer just catching up; we’re setting benchmarks,” said Rogba Orimolade, a FIABCI member and investment strategist.
Adetoun Otepola, Group MD of SOLID GROUPS, hailed the event as a gateway for foreign investment: “Land is Lagos’ new oil. This congress unlocks unprecedented opportunities.” Orimolade projected significant FDI inflows, noting attendees are “coming to do business, not sightsee,” with private equity interest already surging in Nigeria’s real estate sector.
Beyond networking, the congress aims to reshape perceptions of Africa’s capabilities. “We’re matching global standards while highlighting uniquely African solutions,” Adeniji added. Sessions will address inclusivity, climate-resilient design, and youth-driven urbanization, aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals
